About TheBindBrief
An independent publication for operators of independent P&C insurance agencies.
What we cover
TheBindBrief covers the business of running an agency in the 2020s — the M&A wave, the technology shift, the carrier appetite reality, and the operational decisions that determine whether an agency is worth more or less in five years.
Who we write for
Operators. Specifically, principals of independent P&C agencies. Industry vocabulary is used as the audience uses it. We do not explain "binding" or "appetite" in parentheses.
What we are
- An independent publication for operators of independent P&C insurance agencies.
- Editorial-first, with sponsorship and clearly labeled advertising as the monetization layer.
- Opinionated when evidence supports a position.
- Specific in language, sourcing, and analysis.
- Modern in format and distribution.
- Insider in vocabulary and assumed knowledge.
- Patient in audience-building, urgent in publishing rhythm.
What we are not
- A trade group publication or carrier-funded outlet.
- An aggregator that summarizes Insurance Journal.
- A vendor's content marketing arm.
- A consumer publication for insurance buyers.
- A general business publication that occasionally covers insurance.
- A think-piece blog disconnected from operator reality.
- A LinkedIn-optimized personal brand vehicle.
How we report
TheBindBrief is reported from the public record. Figures come from named industry sources: advisory-firm M&A reports, carrier and broker filings, regulator data, and on-the-record commentary, each linked to where it was published. We do not run anonymous-source claims as fact, and where a number cannot be sourced, it does not appear.
The editorial standard is written down and enforced. Every quantitative claim in a published guide maps to a linkable source; the editorial standards page covers sourcing, corrections, conflict of interest, and the red lines in full. Corrections are logged on the piece, not quietly edited away.
We are an independent publication, not a credentialed advisory firm, and we do not present ourselves as one. The work here is reading the public record carefully, in the operator's own vocabulary, and citing it so you can check it.
Editor
TheBindBrief is founded, edited, and primarily written by Mario Bailey (LinkedIn) from Washington, D.C. Author bios appear inline on every long-form article. Contributing writers are credited individually when their work appears in TheBindBrief.
